Omron Intelli Wrap Cuff Only

The blood pressure cuff alignment is an important component of measurement accuracy, so if your cuff is misaligned, it can contribute to inaccurate results. The expanded coverage OMRON Easy-Wrap ComFit cuff (HEM-FL31-E) inflates around the entire circumference of your arm to help ensure that the brachial artery is compressed for comfortable, accurate reading.

Why does cuff size matter?

If the cuff size is wrong for the patient, it could give a reading that is too high or too low. To avoid this, the air bladder inside the cuff should fit around at least 80% of the arm but not more than 100%.

If the cuff is not big enough, then the cuff may not be able to completely close off the blood vessels. In this case, the bladder will inflate too much and the monitor will give a higher reading than it should. While if the cuff is too large, then the cuff will inflate on itself; this means that it will cut off the blood supply to easily and the monitor will give a lower reading than it should.

• When purchasing a home blood pressure monitor, it’s important to know your appropriate cuff size. To determine your proper cuff size, use a cloth measuring tape and measure the circumference of your left upper arm, midway between your elbow and shoulder. Ensure that the blood pressure cuff is neither too tight nor too loose to help ensure the most accurate readings and provide you a more accurate picture of your heart’s health.
